International Symposium »Actor Training: Intercultural and Interdisciplinary Perspectives«
3–6 December 2013
Kunstquartier Bethanien – Studios 1 and 2 –
Mariannenplatz 2, 10997 Berlin-Kreuzberg
The symposium, organized by the International Research Center »Interweaving Performance Cultures,« follows on from a preliminary seminar on intercultural actor training hosted in November 2012 by the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) in Singapore. The purpose of the symposium is to bring together a diverse group of specialists to (re)consider key questions about actor training and acting. Participants include teachers and students of acting from different schools and cultures, practitioners who interweave techniques, methods, and discourses of training, as well as an interdisciplinary group of scholars interested in issues of embodiment, consciousness, and subjectivity, which are central to the phenomenon and practice of acting and actor training.
The symposium was curated by Dr. Christel Weiler (FU Berlin), Phillip Zarrilli (UK), Sasitharan Thirunalan (ITI, Singapore), Antje Paul (FU Berlin) and Torsten Jost (FU Berlin).
Information on the participants/participating institutions are available for download.
