»Call Me Manora,« by Catherine Diamonds, combines a Thai Buddhist story, the kinnari jataka, with the H5N1 avian flu epidemic in Southeast Asia, and features many hybrid characters from Asian traditional theatres.
A staged reading of the play is presented during »HUMANIMAL: Mythos und Realität« – an exhibition by the Hermann von Helmholtz-Zentrums für Kulturtechnik and the Tieranatomisches Theater of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Further information on the program of »HUMANIMAL: Mythos und Realität« can be accessed here.
The performance is in English. The admission is free.
The event is a collaboration of the Hermann von Helmholtz-Zentrums für Kulturtechnik, the Tieranatomisches Theater of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin. It is supported by the Kinnari Ecological Theatre Project (KETEP), Theater Zusammenhang, and the International Research Center »Interweaving Performance Cultures« at Freie Universität Berlin.
