The White Snake, the new play by Catherine Diamond, will be given a staged reading in English at “Werkstatt der Kulturen”. The play is an adaptation of the ancient Chinese story about two snake deities who meditate to become human. Their entry into society challenges old customs and new economics. 

The admission is free.

Catherine Diamond, a current Fellow at International Research Center “Interweaving Performance Cultures,” previously staged a reading of Call Me Manora at Humboldt University’s “Tieranatomisches Theater” in January 2014. She is the director of the “Kinnari Ecological Theatre Project” (KETEP) in Southeast Asia.
