International Conference ‘Street Performances as Spatio-Temporal Heterotopias’ has been postponed - Festival Performing Tangier 2020 is cancelled
"Due to the global impact of COVID-19 outbreak and after close consultation with our event partners, advisory board, and collaborators, the International Conference ‘Street Performances as Spatio-Temporal Heterotopias’, which was due on the 28th through 31st of May 2020 in Tangier, will be postponed", announced Khalid Amine, Founding President of the International Centre for Performance Studies (ICPS) in Tangier and organizer of the annual conference and performance festival Performing Tangier. The conference is now rescheduled to November 27-30, 2020 (subject to change if we are still quarantined). As to the festival, it is cancelled. We hope to ensure on-site participation of all invited participants. Yet, we also look forward to bringing together some of our distinguished speakers on-line.
You are more than welcome to submit a proposal for presentation. The new abstract submission deadline is 30 September 2020. You may also send a stream-panel proposal to be included as part of the conference.
Proposals
The organizing committee welcomes abstracts and proposals strictly on the above issues. A 250-WORD abstract, along with a ONE PARAGRAPH curriculum vitae, should be submitted electronically (preferably in Word or Rich Text format) by 30 September 2020 to the scientific committee care of Professor Christel Weiler (Senior Advisor of the International Research Center „Interweaving Performance Cultures‟ at Freie Universität Berlin), Khalid Amine (Conference Co-convener). Acceptance, however, unfortunately does not include any financial support - participants are responsible for their own funding (i.e. securing grants, etc.) to pay for travel and lodging expenses. Selected conference papers will be published in a special volume upon the approval of the scientific committee. Submitters of accepted proposals will be notified within four weeks of the above deadline, and all decisions of the scientific committee are final.
