Guest Talk by Dr Claudia Gianelli (University of Messina): Multimodal action processing
Dr. Claudia Gianelli (University of Messina) is giving a talk about:
Multimodal action processing
It is well established that observing actions visually and linguistically activates a complex neural network that substantially overlaps with the one that serves action execution. Studies using a wide range of methodologies have pointed to a multifaceted picture of how actions semantics is encoded at the neural level and contextually activated. In this talk, I will discuss recent experimental and meta-analytical evidence that both supports and challenges this notion when considering action processing across modalities (visual, linguistic) and languages (native, non-native). Taking this evidence into account, I will discuss possible clinical implications and future developments.
