Titel: Practical CIAT: a Clinical Perspective

The CIAT protocol (Ciccone et al 2015), was developed in 2008. This protocol arose from a study into the feasibility of daily group therapy for people with aphasia early post stroke (Godecke et al 2014). Clinical experience indicates the benefits for clients are broader than captured in language measures, with patients consistently reporting feelings of wellbeing and satisfaction. CIAT has been maintained for 10 years at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) as a core component of the Aphasia therapy pathway.

This presentation will describe the OPH CIAT procedure in detail. Translating the methodology of Pulvermuller et al (2001) into clinical practice will be described within the context of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation service to subacute inpatients and outpatients.
