From November 19th to 21st the festival "Really Useful Theater" will take place at Sophiensæle (Berlin). Under the artistic direction of Stefanie Wenner, artists, curators and researchers will come together to discuss the use and value of art.
On Saturday, November 21st, The Aesthetics of Applied Theatre will host a panel discussion and table dialogues with international guests. Entitled "An International Perspective", the discussion will give artists from four different continents the opportunity to talk about their work. For the discussion Kristin Flade, Janina Möbius and Julius Heinicke will be joined by Ananda Breed (Youth Theatre for Peace, Kyrgyzstan), Lorena Méndez Barrios (Theatre in Prison in Mexico City), Bayan Shbib (Theatre in Palestine), Ioanna Valsamidou (Theatre in Athens, Greece) und Jens Vilela Neumann (Theatre in Angola, Mozambique und Zimbabwe). After the panel discussion, the audience will have the opportunity to learn more about each of our guests' work during individual discussions and table dialogues.
In addition to that, Matthias Warstat will participate in the festival's opening discussion "Useful Theater vs. Artistic Freedom" that is being held on November 19th, 8pm. Other participants are Juliane Rebentisch, Alistair Hudson and Stefanie Wenner.
