Prof. Susan Squier presented comics on migration in conjunction with Prof. Lemke’s FSGS course on postcolonial theory. Specifically addressed was Shaun Tan's graphic novel The Arrival, focusing on the role animals played in creating connections between the immigrants and the citizens of the new country, and discussing how the cartoonist's use of visual point of view expands the subjectivities granted "voice" in this nonverbal comic.
