Transpacifica Network
- The research group Transpacifica has offices at the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of the Freie Universität Berlin (room JK 33/137) and the Graduate School of Humanities, Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo (room 3406). Since 2012, the two graduate schools have been affiliated through a cooperation agreement.
- Over the past few years, doctoral fellows of the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School have published outstanding dissertations dealing with issues relevant for Transpacifica. These include the works of Melanie Lörke (Liminal Semiotics, 2013), Rebecca Mak (Mishima Yukios „Zur Verteidigung unserer Kultur“, 2014) and Johannes Görbert (Die Vertextung der Welt, 2014). The relevant contact persons for Transpacifica at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Tokyo include Shinji Miyata, Mitsuyoshi Numano and Kanichiro Omiya.
- Members of the scientific advisory board of Transpacifica are presently Dr. Tara Beaney (Comparative Studies, University of Aberdeen, UK), Prof. Dr. Cordula Lemke (English Studies, FU Berlin), Prof. Dr. Thomas Pekar (German Studies, Gakushuin University, Tokyo).
- Visiting scholars of Transpacifica have been Aratee Kaewsumrit from the University of Bangkok (April-May 2015), Kanichiro Omiya from the University of Tokyo (July-August 2015), Geraldine Suter from the University of Virginia (April-July 2016) and Chunjie Zhang from UC Davis (June-November 2017).
- To this day, the project partners are the German-Japanese Center Berlin (workshop 2015), the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (panel discussion 2016), the Mori-Ôgai Memorial at the Humboldt University in Berlin (workshop 2017).
