The aim of the workshop is to help the participants become more sensitive regarding the ethical problems of their own research. Thereby, they will be enabled to identify specific problematic fields within their work and to analyse them. For that, they learn about the basics of good scientific practice and apply them to their own cases. Finally, the participants work on strategies to deal with their discussed cases.
During the workshop, the participants deal with the following questions:
-
Which scientific standards apply and how do they create exclusion?
-
What claims of validity does research in general have? In which way is research always perspective?
-
What kind of scientific culture is presented and which kind of claims of power are connected with that?
-
How am I responsible for my research?
The examination of those questions includes getting to know the standards of good research practice and discussing them. This will also be combined with the fundamentals of philosophy of science. Thus, on the one hand the workshop communicates norms and standards in research. On the other hand, it focusses on the reflection of what good research practice and the connected values mean for the single participant and her specific work.
