Many research projects – and most doctoral theses – begin with an exposé: a relatively short text that advertises the intended research project to the reader. As such, the exposé is a useful tool for us when we are in the process of getting the project started. Also, it has a clear strategic function, i.e. convincing a specific person or institution that the research project is promising and worth doing.
