Please check if your background meets our mandatory admissions requirements!
Due to the regulations on the allocation of study placements of March 2017, the primary requirement is a bachelor’s degree containing
- 20 credits in linguistics and
- 20 credits in Germanic literatures.
Attention: language acquisition courses do not count here!

Applicants without proof of these qualifications cannot be accepted!
Application
- Students who graduated in Germany can apply directly on the FU-Portal.
- Students who graduated abroad have to apply via uni-assist (a handling fee is required). Proof of language skills at the required DSH level are important. Please take note of the process of application and relevant information provided to international students by FU Berlin.
***Applicants who graduated (BA) outside of the EU are urgently asked to upload the requested documents on uni-assist right at the beginning of the application period. In order to apply for a visa, you need the confirmation mail issued by uni-assist that your application has been forwarded to FU Berlin.***
Admission
Accepted students will receive a written confirmation of admission with a deadline. Students must confirm acceptance of admission in written form by the deadline.
