The fsi performativer wissenschaften represents the students at the Institute for Theater Studies and advocates for the students at the Institute level and beyond in dialogue with other (departmental student body) initiatives at Freie Universität Berlin.

The fsi performativer wissenschaften runs the Institute’s café, informs students about news regarding the Institute for Theater Studies and university policy, and organizes the first-semester trip. fsi is also involved in events encompassing the entire Institute (e.g., summer party, Christmas party, and Long Night of Science).

The Freie Filmwerkstatt FU is an association of students who realize short film projects together in their free time. This has already resulted in several films that have been presented at film festivals as well as in screenings at the institute.

In addition to the Freie Filmwerkstatt FU's postings on the institute's bulletin board, the initiative provides information about its activities on its Facebook page.

Film-enthusiastic students who would also like to try their hand at making films are very welcome.

According to the Higher Education Act, every university is organized democratically. Decisions on changes to study regulations, appointments of professors, etc. are made democratically. Representatives of all interest groups are represented in the various committees, including students.

Elections to the student parliament take place every semester, and representatives of the fsi performativer wissenschaften are usually listed. In addition, students can be elected to the institute council, the department council, the education commission or appointment committees.
