Existentialist drama and Pakistan, the prospect of theatrical integration
This research takes the dramatic works of Harold Pinter under scope and revisits the notion of active interaction between western existential drama being presented on a Pakistani stage and its audience. The basis of achieving such a synchronized theatrical process is the use of Deconstruction. Deconstruction of the dramatic texts can be the bridge of comprehension between the western existential drama and sensitivities and sensibilities of a Pakistani audience. Because of turbulent, violent and chaotic social, political and economic circumstances void of any sense of security, the audience of Pakistan is rather a desensitized audience and that is one of the chief reason of lack of a theatrical harmony. This dissertation titled, “Existentialist drama and Pakistan, the prospect of theatrical integration” attempts to achieve this functioning assimilation of Western existentialist drama for Pakistani theatre.
